If elected, what steps would you take to address the concerns of
the LGBTQ community in your jurisdiction? Being a Bi-Sexual
Multi-Racial Female, I have been fighting for equal rights and standing
up for everyone and will continue to do so.I have been discriminated by being bi-sexual and multi-racial. When
my brother married the love of his life, his partner Dean, our family
was very proud but there were friends that hated it and said hurtful
things, I stepped up to defend my brother and his right to marry
whomever he wanted.
Everyone has the right to marry anyone that they
want.

Josephine Villasenor's Bio - Candidate 6th District City Cuncil
Hi, I'm Josephine Villaseñor.
I was born and raised in South Whittier grew up the 15th kid out of 20. I am Cherokee, Mescalero Apache, California Native Tongva, Mexican- Indian, Spaniard, Polynesian, Irish, Argentinean, Filipino, and Japanese.
I moved to Long Beach in the early 2000’s and have been here for 15 years. I started Wrigley Community Watch in April 2015 after I was attacked by 2 drug dealers while rescuing a Shih Tzu. They wanted to steal the dog to sell it to get more drugs. I knew something had to be done. So I took it upon myself to patrol my neighborhood because I didn’t want my neighbors to feel afraid or have something done to them like what had happened to me. My patrols grew while trying to keep neighbors safe and protected while keeping the neighborhood clean.
After my patrols on Sunday’s I would start to do clean ups of my neighborhood. I also went on to graduate from the Long Beach CERT-Community Emergency Response Team and I am an American Red Cross Volunteer.
I belong to a great organization called W.A.N.A- Wrigley Area Neighborhood Alliance along with MacArthur Park Community Association. I am still doing my patrolling but now I have 35 Community Watchers throughout Long Beach area.
I put on Wrigley Community Watch BBQ’s so that the neighborhood knows that we are there for them no matter what and to bring us closer to each other as a Community. I have also hosted We Love Long Beach events and will continue to do so.
When I am elected into the 6th District Office, I will not take the Salary. That will be distributed among the Long Beach Police Department, Long Beach Fire Department, Long Beach CERT, W.A.N.A, Wrigley Kittens and other Rescue Groups.
I will keep on working with Piñata Fiesta along with District 6 Office job duties. I also take care of 3 families by bringing them food, making sure they get to their doctor appointments and whatever else that come up that they need. I am a survivor of child abuse, molestation and Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. I have Epilepsy and P.T.S.D. but I don’t let that stop me from helping me Community.
Thank you Josie.
